Making an offer on a swap

If you’ve seen a swap listing from another Beanie that you’d like to make an offer on, here’s a quick guide on how to get the ball rolling.

Click on the ‘swap’ button in the swap listing post.

This will open up a form for you to complete with the details of your offer or offers.

You can add multiple items here, you just need to add them one at a time. After you’ve added your first offer, you’ll have the option to add another.

Categories:

Fill out the form, starting with the type of thing you’re swapping. Choose the best fit from the categories in the dropdown. For example, if you have apples, select ‘fruit’

Next, get more specific about what you have to swap. This is where you’d enter ‘apples’ if that is the fruit you were swapping.

Quantity and unit:

Let the person you want to swap with know how much you have to swap.

Write a message:

Use the message to give more information about what you’re swapping. You can let people know:

  • More specific details about the variety

  • Whether it is spray-free, or organic

  • How you’d like to conduct the swap (whether it is pick up only or you want to meet somewhere)

This is a private message between you and the person who posted the swap listing you are responding to.

Please don’t provide personal details like your address until you have established the swap is going ahead and you feel safe to do so. We recommend meeting in a public place for your first swap with someone if you can. All swaps are peer-to-peer and managed by you and the people you swap with. Please always get in touch with us if you have any questions or concerns around swap safety.

Upload a pic:

You can upload a photo of what you have to swap if you wish. Please don’t upload stock images, let’s keep it real and show people what you actually have to trade.

The ‘next’ button will take you to a review of your offer and give you the chance to edit it before sending. Alternatively you can add up to another 2 items to your offer.

You’ll see and be able to manage your swap offers in the messaging overview. When someone responds to your offer, you’ll organise and complete the swap process through private messages with them.
